Inquiry Dineen; 'S'

A young adolescent woman has much contact with the seconday mental health services

She overdoses and self harms frequently.
She is verbally challenging and aggressive. She holds two social workers confined in her falt by threatening them with a knife

At times she states she 'hears' voices. At one point in the Panel report 'a mans voice' at another 'the voice of her ex boy friend', shared with another girl, who killed himself, for rerasons not entirely given.

The team finds the 'voices' unconvincing.

They feel they are never told what is in her mind, to back up that story.

That can be rejecting

She receives the diagnosis personality disorder - borderline personality disorder. That also carries a demeaning connotation of 'manipulative' i.e. she doesnt really mean to risk killing heself.

As the Panel Report states that used to carry a connotation of 'maybe near to schizophrenia' but not now.

A little more pointing towards schizophrenia is a remark quoted from her mother, from whom and from the stepfather she is not now close, which is that she feels someone is or has broken into where she is living. She goes to prison for the 'hostage taking'After one of her turbulent episodes she is directed to a low secure private Unit, whilst awaiting Court disposal.

The Court lets her go. The Unit has to do the same.

She stabs and kills a woman whilst at a night club.

Remanded in prison she kills herself.
